Movie Night: M-GO Puts the 'Social' Back in Your Media

7/26/2013 0 Comments

After the hustle and bustle of the workweek, there’s nothing we like better than to kick back at home with all the viewing staples – a good beverage, our favorite footies and takeout from that place we’ve been craving for days. Once armed with the necessities, we fire up that movie we’ve selected as our partner in crime for the evening – alone.

In fact, most Americans (84%) are streaming their entertainment at least once a week, but, unlike in the movie nights of old, nearly half of us are watching movies solo.

So let’s put the ‘social’ back in our media. After all, people have been sharing entertainment experiences socially since the dawn of time (think cave dwellers around a campfire). And who doesn’t love to dish with others about the latest episode of their favorite TV show or relive that twist in the movie they just saw?

As your Entertainment Wingman™, M-GO has your back, and is bringing “movie night” back into living rooms. Why? We want people to get together and spend some quality time with their loved ones – be they friends, family or a new, potential love interest – with their favorite movie.

With so many to choose from, we’ve put together a list of five movies guaranteed to satisfy even the toughest movie critic:

Raunchy comedy starring Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy. Good for: a good laugh, girls’ night, fans of Knocked Up and The Heat.

Supernatural thriller presented by Guillermo del Toro. Good for: those looking  for a fright night or a reasonable excuse to pull someone close.

Silver Linings Playbook
Rom-com featuring award-winning performances by Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper. Good for: a date night, or if you want an honest, uplifting story.

Despicable Me
Animated family film that the parents will enjoy also. Good for: family movie night, if you’re planning on seeing Despicable Me 2 in theaters.

Warm Bodies
Supernatural teen romance with everyone’s favorite supernatural creatures: zombies. Good for: a chill movie night with your buds, fans of the undead.
We want to jump-start movie night for our fans. So, using Facebook, Google+ and Twitter (using #MGOmovienight), we want to know which of the above movies they want to play for their movie night. The movie that gets the most votes by 4:15 p.m. ET on Thursday, August 8, will be offered as a free stream for up to five days on M-GO for our fans to redeem at their convenience once the winning movie has been revealed. No kidding. And they can each set their own viewing schedule to host their personal movie night beginning at 6 p.m. ET August 8 until midnight August 13.

We’re here to help reconnect our fans with the people closest to them by reconnecting them with the joy of sharing entertainment via M-GO. Now, what are you waiting for? We’ve got the movies – you bring the popcorn.
